The space spans approximately 1,400 square feet and features 11.5-foot ceilings, exposed wood beams, and brick walls that reflect the character of a classic DTLA arts studio. It functions as the organization’s headquarters, operating as a gallery, studio, and flexible venue for programs and gatherings.
Current State Studio supports a diverse range of artistic practices across all media. Through exhibitions, public programs, and cross-cultural initiatives, the organization operates internationally. Space Matter serves as its primary venue and project space, presenting Current State Studio–led programming alongside independently produced events that are not affiliated with or sponsored by the nonprofit.
The space is available for a wide range of events, including pop-ups, panel discussions, workshops, potlucks, birthday celebrations, and community-led programs. Collaborations are welcome, and inquiries are encouraged to discuss how proposed events may engage the local creative community. Special rates are available for artists; please contact us to discuss programming options and rental details tailored to your needs.
